This private bus tour is a full day excursion into the untouched wilderness of Catalonia, passing rolling hills and green valleys, steep rock faces and impressive mountain formations, oak forests, rushing streams and waterfalls. We discover medieval villages in breath-taking scenery on cliffs and hilltops and in the midst of a unique area of extinct volcanic cones.

In Besalú, famous for its romanesque bridge over the river Fluviá, we explore the town with its perfectly preserved alleys and houses on foot. During our walking tour there we visit the medieval synagogue and the Mikve (Jewish bath from the 12th century).

We continue our trip to Castellfollit de la Roca, a village high up on a steep mountain cliff, famous for its bakeries, which bake the best Magdalenas of Catalonia according to old traditional recipes. (a kind of cup cake, outrageously good).

In the Garrotxa volcanic area we stop at the idyllic village of Santa Pau, a small medieval village with a castle, surrounded by gardens and woods and forgotten by time. There we look for a place for a picnic at a lookout point near  the city wall, or go, if desired, to a village restaurant to eat there.

After al little siesta we continue our excursion. Passing by wooded, extinct volcanic cones we drive to the picturesque village of Rupit, whose romantic alleys and suspension bridge we also explore on foot. Afterwards we experience pure nature. On a country road we drive through breath-taking scenery to the village of Tavertet, which was built many centuries ago high up on a rocky cliff.

On the way back to Barcelona we pass the reservoir Vilanova de Sau, where in dry summers sometimes a steeple rises out of the water.

After a side trip in Vich we finish the excursion and arrive tired but full of impressions in Barcelona.
